About the future of Maxthon... Just thoughts...

Rumored that Maxthon has already "thinks" about the MX5. Is it surprise? No. MX3 was released in autumn 2010, MX4 was released in December 2012. It’s time for MX5. Usually Maxthon listens nobody, but now they asked users: “What you would like to see in MX5? What functions of MX are not necessary in new version?”. But will Maxthon listen to these answers? As with AdHunter, which they just killed? Or as problem with HTML5 on YouTube, with was fixed after 1 year?!
I’m with Maxthon long time and I began to think about MX5 ... And I see 5 possible scenarios.

1. MX3 → MX4 → MX5

What is MX4? It's just MX3 with cool synchronization. And without old skins... for a few months. Now MX4 have skins, but does not have website with skins. Perhaps, MX5 will differ from the MX4 only a trifle. Maybe they will add instant messenger (via Maxthon Passport) and will call it “social” browser. Users ask for this feature very often.
Will users be happy to see this step? I do not think so. Old users like MX2, but they don’t like MX3 and they like MX4 even less. If MX5  will be “same” many people just say: “Adieu, Maxthon!”.
Will the new users are satisfied? No. They will say: "This is a new browser. But there are no extensions. Again! Make like in Chrome”. Because new users want Chrome in other browsers, but they don’t want to use Chrome!
But not all so bad in this scenario. Old extensions will work. Old skins quickly will be upgraded to the new version. But I would not like to see such future...

2. Nitro → MX5

Maxthon can use Nitro as a basis for MX5. I like Nitro and I think that Nitro is better than earlier versions of MX3. Maxthon will receive two similar browser: fast Nitro and functional MX5. And users will be able to choose.
Now Maxthon spend too much time to development of "Maxthon browsers family". This problem will be solved. And we finally get one browser for Windows, Linux & Mac!
I think this is the best possible scenario. Because Nitro is really good!

3. Gecko → MX5

I do not like MX3 and I do not like MX4. I think, Maxthon just lost a few years. Just admit that they made a mistake. Maxthon should take a new core and start work from start. And I think it can be Gecko, becouse we have only Trident in IE and WebKit in every other browsers. Why not Gecko? We need an alternative! And if Maxthon make absolutely new browser, it will not have old bugs.

4. Chromium → MX5

Maxthon for Mac and Linux are Chromium-based browser already, but not Maxthon for Windows. Linux and Mac users don’t have any problems with extensions, but Windows users have. MX5 can be Chromium-based browser. And we will get the same browser for different operating systems. Why not?

5. MX is not a browser, MX is functional!

Why do we need Chromium-based MX5, if Maxthon can just release sniffer, split screen, tool for screenshots, notes, multi search, etc. as extensions for other browsers (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox). Why not? And we will not have any bugs anymore! Because the vast majority of Chrome-based browser is just Chromium with a few extensions. I don't want such fate for Maxthon.
