All Maxthon problems because of... Lack of respect
Maxthon have no respect to users. Users are measure of the browser popularity, but users are just number. Withal users are the major source of Maxthon's income, cause users generate search queries and traffic. So... More users - more money, less users - less money. Every Internet company should understand this. All what you need is good product and respect your users, they will recommend your product to their friends, and you will come to success. Look on Vivaldi browser. Everybody likes Vivaldi, even if he has never used it. And the only reason for this is the banal respect for every user. And Maxthon does not have this respect for users.
Maxthon's users are just goods, which you can sell and get more money. Do you remember the situation with Google Custom Search and Search add-on, which can not be removed from browser? Maxthon says: "Google search has too large font and loses AdBlockPlus settings very often . So we fixed that". OK. But... What if I don't use Google search? What if I use Bing, DuckDuck or Yandex? I cannot change defaults search while Search addon works and I canoot remove Search addon. Maxthon forces me to use Google and assures that they do it for free. Really?
Of course, if someone from Maxthon reading this post, he will say: "It is not true. We do not impose Google. If you want to use another search, you have to disable (not remove!) Search addon and change your default search settings". But how many peoples know about it? I think every who don't want to use Googe CSE will change search settings firstly. It does not help and when he understand that it's because of Search addon our friend will remove it. But Search addon will come back after restart. And what ordinary user would do then? He will use Google. And Maxthon will get more money. Success?
No. Because every user who did not find solutions of this problem can choose another path. He can uninstall Maxthon and start using another browser. And in other browser he will not face many MX problems: strange setting, lack of extensions, outdated Flash and WebKit. Will he returt in Maxthon? I don't think so. Maxthon lost him forever. And all this because of disrespect!
And this is only one of side of the coin. Maxthon may not respect users, but if MX make perfect unparalleled product user will never use another browser. But perfect browser does not exist. Just-browser's time is over. Today browser need extensions to be comfortable. But where are extensions for Maxthon? There are not. Only 3K for 5 years and only 1.5K is available today. For 5 years... Why?
Because Maxthon has no respect for extension developers too! If you're just user and you have problem with Maxthon, you can write about it to MX Support. They will not answer, but... Worse if you spent your time to make something for Maxthon and MX Support does not answer. Extensions Center works very bad if you try to upload new extension. And you cannot do any thing with this. Extensions developers face browser and website bugs everyday. This people try to make browser better, but nobody in Maxthon try to help them.
You can make your browser popular if it'll be popular among developers. Look on Google Chrome. What it gives to simple users? Nothing. But Google Chrome is ideal browser for development. Therefore, there are so many extensions for Chrome. And because of this extensions Chrome is so popular. If you need something, you can find it for Chrome.
Maxthon uncomfortable for developers. Maxthon has too many limitations. And Maxthon has too many bugs. If Maxthon want to attract developers they should help them in every cases. But MX don't do this. Developers of extensions for Maxtho are absolutely alone. If you are mxaddon developer and you have questions your only chance to get any answer is ask another mxaddon developer. Nobody in Maxthon Team will not try to help you.
I'm not trying to convince you that everyone in the MX Team thinks only about money, but about users. Perhaps there are good people. But... I know only one. Eric Hu is good man, he often talked with users and developers. He was interested in our opinion. And he really wants to make a better browser and really try to do it. But he does not work in Maxthon more. I do not know why.
We can talk about MX Support and forum moderators too, but... Not today. I wrote about this already. And it's not only about the lack of respect, it's about incompetence too. So let's talk about it next time...
